Taylor Creek Park Beckons

Taylor Creek Park a serene getaway.
Map Showing Taylor Creek Park.

Taylor Creek Park a beautiful place to take a stroll in all seasons. I prefer to always walk through these areas. If you go there you will be able to really absorb the views and catch glimses of the wildlife.

If you want to really enjoy the views then go off the main path and near the creek when it is possible there are some nice views to be seen.

Sadly a lot of people using the park don’t follow the rules in this park and let there pets roam freely, this disturbs the wildlife. There is a dog walking park at one end (nearer the Don Valley Parkway entrance) where mans best friend can run to hearts content. Watch out for cyclists too. They’ll often zoom by you without any warnings!

Somw special wildlife you can see at Taylor Creek Park.

Once inside the park the path splits in two one keeping to the south end of the creek another crossing a small bridge leading north. Eventually as you move east the the southern path goes north over another bridge and merges into one path. There is another place where some concrete has been laid across the river creating an artificial waterfall. The path meanders quite a bit with the scenery changing from side to side.

If you take the time to stand and wait near this point where the concrete creates the small waterfall you can listen to the melody of all the water going over the stones. Its nice and mesmerizing.

If you take the path further on there is an area hidden by reeds where you can find a small ponds where water lillies grow and frogs, lots of frogs croak.

There are more reeds around on the ravine sides. In fact I found a place where there is a seep and you can see water flowing through small gaps in the ground which in turn flows down in to a reed bed; this later on flows into a rill that feeds the creek. I will write more about this in later posts.

There is another concrete path through the creek it is a bit higher than the previous one. It is pleasantly shaded and you can sit here and lsiten to the water again.

Today I did’nt have the time to much further than this but will try to go again. Fall is almost here and the leaves have started to change color. It is a good place to enjoy the cooler autumn weather.

Nice work !!. I wish I were living close to one of these parks. Any thoughts about adding virtual tours for people like me who lives far far away ?

I would love to do that. Maybe in the future I will add some video features to let you take small tours. The best thing about Toronto is that it has so many wonderful places all within a $3.25 bus or subway ride! Makes you wonder what else there is to see in this magnificent country. Stay tuned for more posts. Will run a feature on Autumn colors soon.
